So I have seriously been on a craft binge lately. I try to do a new project every other night. Tonight was the singed flower. I've seen these flowers all over the blog land and I realllyyyy wanted to try to make some. I'm the MOH in my best friend's wedding in October, and I want to make these flowers for our hair pieces! I got inspiration from HERE and HERE.
I love it!
I cut out circles round pieces of fabric that were supposed to resemble circles. A few big ones, some medium sized ones, and a couple of small ones. Then I ran the edges around a flame of a lighter, (at first) and then I got smart and lit a candle and used that flame.
In this picture, the flower looks red. It's not. It's hot pink satin fabric I bought from Hobby Lobby this morning for $3.
I took this picture with the flash - gasp! - but I wanted you to see the true pink color.
Then I sewed some light pink beads in the middle. I would prefer something a little more elegant and sophisticated in the middle, like a pearl, for the wedding.
When people ask about my crafts they say, "Oh my gosh did you make that YOURSELF?!"
Then I reply, "Oh yes I DID make that!"
I love crafting. It makes me happy. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my crafts lately. My co-worker thinks I should make more wreaths like this one. She also thinks I should start selling all my crafts or at least some of them on Craigslist. I'm thinking about it. However, I'm new at this, and I don't know how much to charge, or even if people would like my stuff enough to pay money for it.
I was going to type something else right here and now I've totally forgotten what I was going to say. I hate when that happens.
OOHHH, I remember now. I was going to say this flower can be made for a headband, or a hair clip, or a brooch, or any kind of decoration of embellishment you want it to be! If I did starting selling stuff, any ideas for a price point?
